CE Field Service Engineer

About the role

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is seeking a CE Field Service Engineer to support the core infrastructure of its global data centre portfolio. The role involves ensuring the reliability and performance of mechanical, electrical and control systems that keep services such as Azure, Office 365, Bing and Xbox online for billions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems within data centres, planning and executing preventative and corrective maintenance programmes.
• Monitor critical environment systems, perform risk mitigation and ensure uptime through proactive maintenance and incident response.
• Lead operational excellence by governing maintenance procedures, root‑cause analyses and change‑management processes.
• Drive safety and compliance with Microsoft standards, addressing risks or incidents immediately.
• Partner with engineering teams, vendors and landlord partners to optimise performance and resolve issues.
• Identify and reduce risk, minimizing human error and high‑impact incidents year over year.
• Support emergency‑response readiness and act as an escalation point for facilities‑related incidents.
• Advance cost‑optimisation and energy‑efficiency initiatives, reporting key metrics such as power, temperature and SLA performance.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant industry experience in a data centre or other critical‑environment facility.
• Specialised experience in mechanical, electrical or controls systems.
• Willingness to travel between data centre locations as required.
