Bare Developer – C & JavaScript (Remote)

About the role

Tether is looking for a versatile Bare Developer who can comfortably write both C and JavaScript. You will join the Bare team that builds and maintains the runtime and its ecosystem of native modules such as bare‑bluetooth, bare‑tcp, bare‑fs, and bare‑crypto. The role is fully remote and involves creating native addons that bridge platform APIs into JavaScript, debugging across multiple operating systems, and keeping the runtime lightweight and reliable.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and ship native modules (e.g., bare‑bluetooth, bare‑tcp, bare‑fs, bare‑crypto) from concept to production.
• Write C native addons that expose platform APIs to JavaScript.
• Debug and troubleshoot code on phones, laptops, servers, and constrained devices.
• Maintain and improve the core runtime, ensuring a small footprint and correctness.
• Collaborate independently and own modules end‑to‑end.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in C and JavaScript.
• Experience building native addons or low‑level libraries.
• Comfort with cross‑platform development and debugging.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote environment.
